Two wins for Dragoș in the RLR Pro season opener

Racing League Romania has started the spring campaign, with two parallel iRacing championships: rookies are welcome in the BMW M2 CS Racing single make cup, veterans are invited to tame Porsche Cup (992) cars. Dragoș Simion leads the charge for our team in the Pro series, following his titles in Season 3 (V8 Supercars), Season 4 (Formula 4), Season 5 (GT3 class) and Season 6 Pro (LMP3). A huge grid of 40 cars entered the first round of the new campaign.

Fastest in prequal with a 1:49.702, Simion went even better in qualy (1:49.516) to claim pole position at Monza. Race 1 was an easy escape from the pack, with more than 5 seconds in hand after 11 laps. A harder task came with the reversed grid: Dragoș fought his way up from P15 to P8 in Race 2. Then, it was a good enough starting position to aim for victory once more. The win indeed came at the end of 20 thrilling minutes. Overall, the points haul places him second in the standings ahead of the next round at VIR in two weeks time.
