After two years of protagonism in Racing League Romania, the WCR group expands and provides increased exposure to the brands that share the same values, in an attempt to further grow the sim racing scene.
Season 5 marked a quantitative boom, as RLR expanded by more than 400% in terms of participation. It was also spectacular in terms of stream and TV coverage, which amounted to a prize pool of over 5000 Euros. Thus, the logical step ahead of the next campaign is a professionalization of the top tier. RLR will promote a PRO league of 20 entrants and a SEMI PRO league of 20. After each two rounds, there will be 3 sim racers promoted/relegated between the two series.
Alex Cascatău and Radu Dumitrescu have spearheaded the WCR assault in the past campaigns, celebrating 3rd in the Season 4 standings and 2nd last time around. Both of them are valuable assets for RLR and its partners, so it made sense to develop pairings and brand associations around them.
Cascatău will be joined by race winner and experienced sim racer Cristian Moisescu in the APR Competition team, representing the colors of the Michelin Motorsport Romanian dealership. Under the Smart Driving name, Dumitrescu also gets a new partner - RLR Seasons 1 and 2 champion Victor Nicolae, the man who holds the record of all-time wins in the series. By joining WCR and the East Friendly Racing banner, the message is clear: there's a real competition in the PRO league and a friendly contest for the rest of the community. Everyone has a place in Racing League Romania!
As Mihnea Georgescu takes a break from sim racing, planning his hardware upgrades, an opportunity to merge the WCR Academy with another championship partner appeared: Bogdan Moldovan is a close acquaintance of Jancsi Soos and the RacingSim brand, having been introduced to RLR by his future teammate, Akos Szabo. The two of them will run together in a strong pairing, boasting another iteration of the spectacular liveries that RacingSim got us accustomed to.
Last but not least, the Histria eSports Team remains unchanged, as everyone involved was really happy to continue. Mihai Neg and Mihnea Hiru embark on a full campaign, aiming to shine in RLR and beyond. Neg went on to fight on the virtual scene against DTM and ADAC GT Masters famous drivers, while Hiru impressed in the trials for the Best Next Pilot contest.
Season 6 also brings the opportunity to strengthen the top teams with an F1-inspired rule that sees third drivers joining, scoring points for the squads by explicit nomination instead of a regular, if needed. Andrei Morțilă will race in the RacingSim structure, Vlad Tănăsescu joins the APR Competition team and Cezar Toader becomes an integral part of the Smart Driving crew.
