RLR Radical Sprint Cup: High risks and little reward at Sebring

A gloomy qualifying session was quickly turned around by some good fortune, as both Victor Nicolae (Aqirys Racing) and Andrei Ursan (Textar eSports) not only avoided the Turn 1 carnage, but also gained a few spots in the process. Nicolae rose up to second place and started to run down leader Gaczella before an ill-timed braking for the hairpin caused the #31 car to rear-end the opponent. Nicolae went on to cross the line in fifth, dropping a further place following a sanction for the aforementioned incident.

Ursan was an early casualty in Race 1, spinning while on the attack for sixth. He recovered in the second sprint of the evening to claim two points, as roles switched once more and the other WCR car joined the DNF contingent. Nicolae was philosophical about the retirement: ”it's always a mental battle with yourself - how can you accept that the car ahead is simply faster and not cross the dangerous line of overdriving? That's where errors happen. There's no 101% in racing, only in PR briefs.”

In two weeks time there will be another chance to score solid results at Zolder. For now, Nicolae holds P6 in the overall standings with 67 points and Ursan is P20 with 12 points.
