RLR BMW GT Challenge: The second win of the season gets us back in the title fight

Nobody had a response at Spa-Francorchamps to the blistering race pace set by Victor Nicolae and Sebastian Apostol en route to an undisputed triumph.

On a chilly evening, rain spared the Racing League Romania field for once in the Ardennes. Setting the tone in prequalifying, Victor Nicolae was confident he could also claim pole position. A monster effort by a rival denied him by a mere 39 thousandths, but the Aqirys Racing veteran quickly made amends with a calculated move to grab a lead that the #12 car would never relinquish from there onwards.

There was only one way to go: increasing the gap that amounted to more than 10 seconds by the end of the first hour, when Nicolae passed the car to his rookie teammate. Apostol had to manage the traffic, found a way to set the fastest lap of the race and went on to take the chequered flag with more than 20 seconds to spare.

It looked even more serene than the Paul Ricard victory and the timing of this result couldn't have been more appropriate, as it bring the Aqirys Racing crew firmly in the hunt for overall glory in two weeks time. The Barcelona four hour conclusion becomes a winner takes all affair to end a spectacular season with four contenders too evenly matched to risk picking a favorite.

On the other side of the garage, personal issues prevented Maria Țurai and Mihai Rusu from attending the Belgian round, which triggered a line-up change for the Textar eSports team. Cezar Toader and Alina-Cristina Udrescu were unable to challenge for points, due to some first lap contacts in the pack for the former.
