Radu Dumitrescu scores the first win of the season for West Competition Racing

The home track of our drivers brought a fair share of success in Racing League Romania, with the WCR camp celebrating a victory in Race 1 and a second place in Race 2 on Motorpark Romania.

Making their real-life experience count on a circuit they know so well, Alex Cascatău, Radu Dumitrescu and Mihnea Georgescu were all in the top 10 pre-qualifiers ahead of Round 2, with newcomer Bogdan Moldovan also easily making the cut to be on the grid. It was no easy feat, as Racing League Romania grows spectacularly - 80 sim racers tried their hand this week!

Dumitrescu and Cascatău translated their solid pace into 4th and 5th in qualifying, being virtually inseparable. WCR Academy drivers Georgescu started from P11 and Moldovan from P27. Pre-race favorites and first row championship contenders clashed on lap 3 in the opening heat, leaving Dumitrescu to pick up the lead and defend against Andrei Bechir until time ran out. A heated moment in the closing stages almost spelled disaster, but Radu composed himself and crossed the line first, claiming a victory for WCR for the second consecutive season.

Alex Cascatău was also in the fight for the podium, ultimately finishing 5th on the road and expecting the stewards to promote him one place higher due to an obvious offense of a rival. In a tense pack, everyone's aggression impeded Georgescu and Moldovan from scoring any points, despite showing some promising pace.

Race 2 brought chaos right from the start, when Cascatău's initial getaway was great, but his Turn 1 braking wasn't. He tagged the leader into a spin and will face scrutiny, ultimately throwing into shade 30 minutes of great work en route to second place at the flag. Dumitrescu crossed the line in 7th, but he may also benefit from official decisions against his opponents. Mihnea Georgescu made a brilliant initial lap to extract himself from the trouble zone and got his reward as he rounded out the top 10, with Moldovan also scoring some points in P14.

Round 2 sees the WCR drivers progress in the individual standings, but also the team rising up into second place in the respective classification. The Academy adds some valuable points that consolidate fourth place ahead of the next challenge - Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari (Imola) next Sunday.
