Racing League Romania: A dominant triumph for Victor Nicolae to set the tone for Season 6

Leading from the front - that was the plan for Victor Nicolae after a week of dominance on Circuit Park Zandvoort, while others left themselves with too much to do after qualifying.

Smart Driving Team - P1 Nicolae, P6 Dumitrescu, P14 Toader

Fastest in the free practice sessions with a 1:36.211, Victor Nicolae duly converted in the qualifying session to claim the first pole of the season. An inspired getaway made it easy for him to control the pace in Race 1, where nobody was in a position to launch an attack on the leader. Race 2 was equally solid: from 10th on the reversed grid, Nicolae rose up to 4th and it could have been more without some damage after an early contact. Radu Dumitrescu fought hard from 11th to 6th in Race 1, then another top 10 placement came after a spectacular battle with vice-champion Bechir. There were points in the bag in both races for reserve driver Cezar Toader.

APR Competition - P7 Moisescu, P10 Cascatau

Race 1 brought progress from 8th to 5th for Alex Cascatău, while Cristian Moisescu gained three positions as well to finish in a crucial tenth that brought him pole position for Race 2. He led the race for a few laps, then his pace faded, ultimately finishing sixth. Cascatău had a blistering start in Race 2, rising up to third before being hit in Tarzan Corner. One point was all he could rescue.

RacingSim - P12 Moldovan, P16 Szabo, P17 Mortila

The RacingSim trio had similar misfortunes, each driver being able to take the chequered flag just once. Bogdan Moldovan was a key element in Race 1, trying to nurse a damaged car in order to remain within the points. His defense was strong, as eventual Race 2 winner Lukas Hellmann couldn't find a way past to claim 7th. Akos Szabo claimed two points in Race 2, while Andrei Mortila was first below the line in Race 1.

Histria eSports Team - P15 Neg, P18 Hiru

Seventh on the grid was a good reason to be optimistic for Mihai Neg, but it quickly turned sour when he got hit. He could only salvage a few points each time. Similar fate for Mihnea Hiru, on a race day to forget, battling out with heavily damaged cars.

Round 2 of the season takes place in just seven days at Motorpark Romania.
