Heated RLR battle for West Competition Racing at the Nordschleife

The fifth round of the Racing League Romania powered by BMW season took place at the famed Nurburgring Nordschleife, where the WCR team was in contention for the podium once more.

Encouraging pace during the week was confirmed in qualifying, where Alex Cascatău claimed a championship point for his 3rd place on the grid, sharing the second row with teammate Radu Dumitrescu. Bogdan Moldovan was 7th after the one lap dash, also setting up a solid base ahead of the hour-long effort, while Cațan and Hiru couldn't replicate their early pace when it mattered, leaving them vulnerable in the pack.

After the start, Cascatău and Dumitrescu held their positions and settled into a rhythm before pitting at the end of lap three. It proved to be an unfortunate decision as they exited into traffic, with Nicolae's risky bet providing a threat right behind the WCR pair. It all turned sour for Cascatau in an instant following light contact with an opponent, leaving Dumitrescu to take avoiding action, thus losing his podium placing. A longer second stint and very used tyres meant he could only salvage fifth at the flag.

Bogdan Moldovan entertained the ever-increasing fanbase of Racing League Romania with his prolonged fight against Mihai Neg. Unfortunately, both Moldovan and Cascatău were hit with 30-second penalties that relegated them to 11th and 13th, reducing their points tally in a race where scores were doubled. Cațan got hit on lap one and could only end up 22nd, while Hiru got into trouble early on.

At the mid-way point, WCR lies second in the teams' classification, with Cascatău and Dumitrescu fifth and sixth in the individual standings. Moldovan is eighth and Mihnea Georgescu 30th, their points adding up for a fifth place for WCR Academy.
